Rejected not once, not twice, but three times. Then, after providing the corrections requested and passing both exams, they sent this app to the AIU. Which, from what the CSLB has said, no longer exists.
Government, by definition, is a cluster…. But the CSLB has taken ineptitude to a whole new level.
Let’s break it down:
5/12 the app is sent to Case Management. Probably because the applicants name is the same or similar to someone else’s. There is 2+ weeks wasted.
5/30 AIU requests the app to be posted. Wait… AIU? I thought the app was in Case Management? One would think the app was good to go since the AIU said it could be posted. (Posted means accepted and that the applicant can proceed to testing)
6/3 Rejected for correction. On 5/30 the AIU said it could be posted. Now it’s being rejected for correction?
6/20 Corrections received and sent to be scanned… AND rejected again! My assumption here is that they didn’t get back what they requested, or they are playing with the applicant in the hopes that he’ll withdraw the app.
7/24 Corrections received, sent to be scanned… AND rejected again!! “Need Trade Work Description” Was this not included in the original reject? Did the applicant not provide this with the original reject? Or is the CSLB just rejecting it again because they didn’t bother to include it in the original rejection?
7/25 App posted and exam date scheduled. This would suggest that everything the applicant submitted was accepted. That is how any logical person would view this comment.
8/18 Exams passed. Bonding and insurance purchased, business cards ordered, ready to move forward… but wait…
9/18 One month later.. the app is sent to the supervisor for review. Review of what? The supervisor sends it back to the tech with instructions to send the app to AIU. Again, I thought the AIU was no longer?
9/23 5 days later the app is sent to the AIU, where the investigator will ask for all of the same documents the tech would have asked for months ago and 5 months after the app was submitted.
So there you have it. The utterly inept CSLB application processing in action.
Will this applicant get his license? I hope so! He proved his knowledge by passing the State mandated, CSLB created exams.

I have a question about adding a classification. I was given an application fee number for my original app which resulted in getting my license number after passing the original law and trade. I decided to add a classification and was given a different application fee number. Is this a normal process for the CSLB? I just want to make sure it all ends up on the same license number. If the CBU told the tech who is processing your app to proceed, they most likely sent your app to the issuance unit. I see your bond and w/c is in place.
So what is the cslb next action at this point? When I’m looking up processing times which one applys to my app?
You should be looking at the Issuance date. Do you have the email of the tech that was processing your app? You can ask them if they’ve sent your app to the issuance unit. They may not have been notified yet that you cleared the CBU.

Is this a good thing or not? I submitted my application with a test waiver and got this this morning.
Looks like you submitted an exam app and they are transferring it to the waiver unit… is my guess. The waiver unit will review the app and let you know if you qualify or not.
Oh okay! I originally submitted my application as an LLC but decided to change entity’s but did my exams and passed and i resubmitted my application as a corporation so i don’t think it there should be a problem?

It usually is a good thing. Email the tech processing your app and ask if you’re good to go. Since it was just released by the CBU yesterday, the app tech probably hasn’t been notified yet or hasn’t worked their way back to your app. Either way, you’re probably good to go.

That means they received the documents you provided and are sending them to their scanning unit where all documents are scanned into their imaging system. The techs have seven days to review/process and corrections that have been submitted. When could the license be issued? Too many factors to be able to guess.

That depends on what CM determined after their review. They could be telling the tech, who is processing your app, to continue. Or they could be telling the tech to ask for more info. Or they could be telling the tech to inform you that they are denying your application.

It could be a good or bad thing. All depends on if you have a record or not. If you don’t, nothing to worry about. If you do, then it would depend on what the conviction was for and when it took place.

What does Instructions returned from case MGMT mean?

That could mean that they’ve completed their review and are instructing the app tech to proceed or they could tell the tech that you have to complete something before the app can proceed. Do you have an outstanding citation?
I completed everything requested including bond and workers comp and the check to the Registrar cleared my bank on 8/2/22. Is there still more reviewing on the CSLB end like background check or would they have already done that? I completed the livescan on 6/6/22. Thanks for the help.

The cslb issuance unit is about 4 weeks behind. If your $200 check cleared on the 2nd, then that’s probably when you got in line for issuance. If you don’t hear anything in 2-3 weeks, reach out to me again and I’ll check with the cslb for you.

The day they post your app and schedule the exams is the day they order the print docs to be mailed to you. Check your mail next week. Yes, prints are required.

If you have a record, they could be reviewing that. Generally speaking, they’ll ask you to complete a disclosure form outlining the circumstances of the conviction and the steps you’ve taken for rehab. You can call the CSLB CBU at 916-255-1007 and ask them for an update.

That means that there is a citation or complaint or other issue in your past that they are reviewing. Perhaps you were denied a license before?

I have a license with a qualifier. Company has been running since 2016. Wanted to branch out on my own while on the active license of the qualifier but got flagged for review. I called and it wasn’t a double name thing. What can ot be?
My application was sent back requesting “Need specific B trade duties.”
I sent returned it with additional information and the site has updated my status to say “D/O not issued BB #60591.” On the same day, the a second status update says “Block issue until problem resolved.”
I didn’t receive any further notice about what needs resolving, no emails/mail. Any idea what these updates mean?

D/O not issued… that’s a new one. Not sure what that means. Email the cslb at appexams@cslb.ca.gov and ask for an update. Put your app number in the subject line. You should also have the tech’s name who’s processing your app. Their email address will be firstname.lastname@cslb.ca.gov.
If I already obtained a license for my business but am an owner of another business too, can I apply for a license for that company as well? And what are the requirements? Exam?

That means they received the corrections you provided and they’ve sent them to be scanned into their imaging system.

What does it mean when CLSB CBU withdrawl offer sent on my application?
That means that you didn’t disclose a criminal conviction, or they didn’t like the conviction on your record.
what does this mean APPLICATION RETURNED TO PROGRM TECH
It depends on what the prior comments say. If the app was sent to a deputy for experience review, then it’s being returned to the tech for further processing. That could include requesting more documents, posting the app and scheduling a test date, or telling you they’ve granted no experience credit and you can withdraw or find another qualifier.
