I’m often asked how to schedule exams with PSI. Here’s the information you need to know.
To schedule, the website is https://candidate.psiexams.com/ or you can call directly at 877-392-6422 option 2.
Anyone with accommodations due to a disability or using a translator cannot schedule online or the 877#. You will need to email exams@cslb.ca.gov and the CSLB will provide you with instructions if you have an approved translator.
When using the link, here are the instructions:
- Select Government/State Licensing Agencies
- Jurisdiction: California
- Account: CA Contractors State License Board
- Classification: (The exam they are scheduling – Law or Trade. If scheduling both, you’ll need to schedule one first, then the other)
- When you select the classification, you’ll need to Sign In or Create an Account

Hello,
You’ll need to schedule your exams with the testing center, PSIexams. Click here or here to schedule.
I has scheduled my contractors exam with PSI and was scheduled for September 22, 2023 in San Diego. I chose this day months in advance and had planned to take both my Law and Trade exams on the same day. The weekend before my test date I took 3 Crash Courses to help prepare me. Two days prior to my exam i went online to get the directions to the training site as well as print out my confirmation letter. This is when I had found that PSi hand cancelled my test date without any explanation. I am furious. I have reached out to the website they left for me to contact without a reply back. I contacted CSLB and was told they could not help me as they have no control over the testing. I fill like i just waisted all that money, and time and the next testing date i could get would not be till the end of october. Have you ever heard of this happening.
Hello Kenneth,
I’m sorry to hear about your troubles with PSIexams. I have heard of them cancelling people before and I’m not sure why they do that. The cslb must have some culpability in this as they are the ones that hired PSIexams. Did you reach out to exams@cslb.ca.gov?
