SACRAMENTO – The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) has launched a new online renewal option that will benefit more than 35,000 active Home Improvements Salespersons (HIS). All HIS can now renew their registrations online with a credit card payment.
The HIS online renewal process is faster, more convenient, and reduces the number of possible errors when compared to mailing in an HIS renewal. CSLB processes about 5,000 HIS renewals each year.
Here are some details about the new paperless online renewal process:
- HIS registrants will need to provide their HIS registration number, use a Visa or Mastercard for payment, and confirm their current address to process an online renewal.
- HIS registrants will have the option to update their address information during the online renewal process.
- HIS registrants will still receive renewal reminders from CSLB in the mail approximately 60 days before their registration expiration date.
The HIS online renewal process follows CSLB’s April launch of online renewals for Sole Ownership Licensees without a Responsible Managing Employee (RME).
“CSLB realizes the challenges the California construction industry is facing during our current health emergency,” said CSLB Registrar David Fogt. “Improving our online resources for Home Improvement Salespersons will make the maintenance of their registrations easier in these tough times.”
HIS registrants and licensees still may renew through the mail, providing payment by check, submitting a completed form, and sending to the address on the renewal notice.
